[backdated to 24th oops] video
[ When the video turns on in the very early morning, there's only half a face present before it comes up fully onto the screen. The boy is practically beaming at the journal, and there's only a second before-- ]
Ivysaur evolved!
[ Yes. He couldn't keep that excitement in. He's still got a really dumb smile on and he has to remember what he was going to say, a pause there before he continues. ]
If you don't know what an ivysaur is, they're a grass and poison type pokémon! Ivysaur's been with me since she was a bulbasaur and now she's huge! She's big! She's nearly as big as Snorlax is!
[ The camera faces down to a dusty ground, then comes back up. ] I'm going to show you her, okay? [ And then the book flips around, showing a large, blueish-greenish toad-skin looking monster with a flower protruding from her back from the front, standing at 6'10 (for those who can tell). She leans her head to the side, her mouth opening slightly and showing her fangs as she grunts a small sound. She's embarrassed by the fuss, but the yellow rodent at her feet displays her with his arms proudly out towards her. Pika! (Check her out!)
(Also from the background, some might be able to tell that they're at the farm. Why are they at the farm so early? Because.) ]
Isn't she cool? She is! --oh, hey, Snorlax! Stand next to her and show everyone how big she is next to you!
[ The recording swings over to show a very fat panda creature sitting down eating a pile of bread. He continues eating, and as Red begs again ("C'mon, Snooorlax!"), the creature proceeds to noisily shuffle his butt to face the opposite direction. Noopppee. ] Snor! You...!
[ Huff! He faces the screen back to himself finally, making a puffed face but not so seriously. ] Forget about him! Saur's amazing and that's all that matters!
[ And then one last smile! ]
Bye!!!

Wait, stones? Of what sort?
Like Pikachu - yellow pokémon? Did you see him? If you give one of his kind a thunder stone, he'll evolve into a raichu.
I've seen Pikachu before, but I didn't know he could evolve like your other friend over there. Ivysaur was her name?
Oh, yeah! I've talked to him before over the journals, he was interested in trying to pull together a specific day for friendships. [Which could be a lot of fun!]
I guess? I don't really know Pikachu's all that well! [Or any other Pokemon for that matter.]
I was just thinking. He's had his pikachu a long time... or. Longer than me, I think. But getting a thunder stone isn't that hard.
If a stone's not that hard to get, then why not obtain one right away and have Pikachu evolve as soon as possible?
Well for us, Pikachu doesn't want to evolve. Not all pokémon do I've found. But you don't just want to evolve a pokémon right away -- maybe for a pokémon called eevee it'd make sense? Since they evolve into different elemental types depending on the stone you use, so they'll want to get used to a body of that element.
But there's more to being a pokémon than just evolving! Evolution is cool and all, but you want to bond with a pokémon first and learn about them. What if you started working with someone and they made you change right away? You'd have to get used to the different changes later on, but... I don't know, wouldn't it be scary?
-- Oh yeah, plus stones are expensive. There's that too.
Hmm. That makes sense. A Pokemon who changes elements needs to adjust to not only the type of body they have, but also the new element they obtain through evolution. Sorta like how a mage needs to get used to the differences between how to cast a fire spell and a lightning spell. Though without the form change.
[If someone wanted her to change right away she'd just walk right on out of there! But looking at the situation with Pokemon...] Yeah, changing immediately wouldn't be all that fun. So I can see where you're coming from with that.
I'm not surprised that they would be expensive, considering what they do.
Sometimes you can find rocks yourself. Like there's stones called moon stones you can find in caves? But I think moon stones are rarer than other stones. [ And since she might ask- ] Oh, and they don't have any element in them either. There's one pokémon that turns into a poison ground type from just a poison type when they use it, but another stays a normal type. It's a special kind of stone.
Ah, so the moon s tones are neutral and can cover evolution with any Pokemon regardless of element. [Ground was just another word for earth, normal was a bit odd, but she compared it to how some of her spells are not elemental based. Poison though? That's a new one.] Poison? I didn't think that could be considered an element.
But, well, real life is always different. I don't think there's a poison stone out there. But there's poison pokémon, so poison is a type. There's a bunch of them!
Like... ekans and bellsprout! Ekans are a snake pokémon with fangs, but bellsprout are poisonous plants with no teeth. So ekans can wrap around you and bite you, and bellsprout can -- well, I bet bellsprout could make vines to wrap around you too, but they'd use powders to poison you because they're plants!

It's got to be the same with magic, right? Like you said with the two mages meeting and knowing some of the same things, but knowing different spells too. You can try putting them all in a book, but I bet even magic buffs find new spells all the time.
[ She did use the word mage earlier and they're both the same thing to Red, but you know!! ]
I don't need a scroll, thankfully, I simply just have to use my mind! Like this! [She'll make a quick demonstration, raising her index finger so that it was directed toward the ceiling of her apartment. At it's very tip, a small ball of ice formed, about the size of a marble.]
So is that what makes you a spellslinger? 'Cause you can make magic appear like that and sling it? ...It sounds like it could be a pretty fun game.
[ Of course, he's not expecting a demonstration of that in what appears to be her home. But it's good to understand! ]
