[ Nothing interesting on the video feed here, just a black-haired boy with his pikachu's head poking from the bottom of the screen. ]

Hi, my name's Red. I've got a couple of questions... I wanted to ask about first aid and the battle dome, and also if there's anybody that knows about fixing things? [ He looks away ] I don't have anything broken, but I wanted to have something looked at.

[ Right, anyway. Back to the screen. ]

But with the first aid... I was wondering if anyone had the time to help me see if I know what I'm doing? I got taught how to put on bandages a long time ago, but I don't think I was doing it right the last time I did it.

[ Maybe it had been fine, but a refresher would be good either way. ]

Anyway, then the battle dome - I wanted to know about what fighters train against in there. [ This was going to be hard, but ] I know people here have different abilities, and what we can handle is different too. I've tried creatures not from my world, but I guess...

[ What does he guess? He thinks, pinching his bottom lip in. ]

...I guess I just want to know if there's something better me and my pokémon can do. Everything's still challenging in the battle dome, but I want -- more? [ Um.

That sounds... bad? He fidgets, then shrugs. ] I don't know. I thought it'd be interesting to know what else we could fight on there. That's about it really.

Hey, Caius. [ He pauses, trying to think of how to continue... ] You fight with a sword, right? I want to practice with you sometime, if you've got the time.

[ Red's not (entirely) dumb. He took the hour to find out more about this Giovanni. He'd heard the name from Luke Skywalker before, apparently a trainer with an affinity to ground-type pokémon that helped the work on the farm in its beginnings. It had been inspiring back then to hear, and dodgy written messages hadn't been what he expected to receive one day in connection that same name.

Something didn't sit well with him with it all - and for good reason, he found out.

He's cautious when he arrives. It's early for himself, though Giovanni's already there anyway. But Red comes in from the side than the usual route towards the entrance for that reason, hoping to get a look of the man before meeting him. Black coat, shaded hat, smoke; he can't see the man's features, but he can see his stature, and the cigarettes remind him of the smell that once prickled his nose. Everything about him spells trouble.

And maybe it's a trouble Red shouldn't get himself involved in. Maybe he shouldn't be here. He knows he's not as good as the others here, and there's no knowing what will happen.

But Red doesn't want to ignore if it really is him, and he doesn't want to back away from this challenge.

It's coming close up to the hour when Red finally shows himself, Pikachu on his shoulder and no usual hat on his head. He stops in his steps a small distance from, eyes fixed on Giovanni and face straight, but in no way hiding completely the possibility that he knows. Pikachu hides it even less, a deep frown on his lips. ]

... Giovanni.

[It's quite some time before Gold finally decides to show up, and when he does, he barges into the room quite abruptly, not even bothering to knock.]

I'm here!

If you like, yes, of course.

[And she knows that, and that he's being serious. It's good, heartwarming in a way, having so earnest a student.]

[ And Red's right in the middle of a simulation in a cave filled with large, stone golems with his team out on the attack, with Red on the other side. Just out for a stone head being thrown at the wall beside you Gold, 'cause that's what they do. ]

Okay. I'll see you soon, Saori.

[ And after the tiny small good byes, Red will be making his way from where he was before and over to the battle dome. If she's not outside waiting for him, then he's just got to find the right room to knock on...! ]

Fixing things? Ah, well, I do know alchemy is useful for such things. But what sort of creatures...hm, I know there's a myriad of creatures from my world that you can battle...but I tend not to do that. [ It feels weird to fight and hurt beings he actively deals with and teaches. ]

Oh, what do you fight then, Helios? [ He'll save the topic of fixing things for now. ]

Ah I typically practice on dummies, actually. Or-or random monsters hat-that I'm not acquainted with.

Is it weird fighting monsters from home to you?

It-it is a bit, yes. I-I tend to teach and communicate with the supposed monsters of my world. Mythological creatures in my world are just like human beings. [ It makes him feel awkward and strange to practice his magic on them like they're some kind of threat. ]

S-So it feels almost like attacking friends or-or people I know.

[Well, she is just coming out of a room, in fact, dressed in her blue gi and toweling sweat off her face. She's got a bruise or two that seem to be rapidly healing, one on her arm, another on her cheek. Spotting him, she smiles and walks over, taking a long drink for a water bottle as she does so.]

Good afternoon, Red. Are you and your friends ready?

Oh, I understand... it's like attacking your own students, right? [ That's what it sounds like. ] Well, that's okay. There's plenty of other creatures we can practice against.

If you want, I can show you some pokémon you can practice on if you ever want anything in particular to fight against.

[ Rapid healing is an odd thing to see -- or to see on a person (or a human form, even). The mark on her cheek, the one he catches, is like a mistake more than anything. It makes him blink, but - it's gone. ]

We are.

[ When Red nods so does Pikachu, serious game face on the rodent pokémon as well. But oh, he then remembers something, and grabs his bag off his shoulder- ]

Oh- but I got this for you. [ It's a small pastry box, with inside it one tart. ]

They called it an egg custard at the bakery. I don't know if you want it. [ Or would like it? Honestly, he just heard 'eggs', and since she seemed to like omelettes a lot... ]

S-Something like that, yes. [ And it kinda goes against his own ideals to treat beings that way like that. ] Hm. I-I suppose that could work.

[ But pokemon seem like such nice creatures too. He remembers what Chili had said to him though. And it's not as if the battledome was real. ] Pokemon are rather strong in your world, yes?

They're all different, but they're strong in the battledome, and there's lots of different kinds of pokémon. You can fight a bunch of them at once too.

Like you can fight a group of pikachu. [ He nods down to his own, looking at the pokémon as he looks back up to him. ] Wild pikachu aren't all that tough to deal with on their own, but if you've got a group they can be tricky. Pikachu can paralyse you and surround you easy when they're working in a team. Oh, but you can fight raichu with them too. They can be harder to take down.

[ Pii! ] Well, when they're not as good as this Pikachu. [ Pi. That's right. ]

It sounds like it would be a challenge. I never imagined your little Pikachu could be so tough! But I guess that's why they say never to judge a book by its cover. [ Helios laughs. ]

Raichu is...like a Pikachu then, only stronger? [ Maybe it was like one of those evolved forms. ]

[ He nods. ] Raichu's the evolved form of pikachu. Evolved forms mean that a pokémon's usually stronger, or just have a lot more experience or older.

Anyway, I know a bunch of pokémon, so if there's a certain challenge you're looking for then I can help you pick pokémon to fight.

[Saori blinks in pleasant surprise when she sees what he's given her, and it's only a second later before her eyes light up in delight. It takes just a whiff to let her know what it is, and egg tarts are among her favorite things. Right after omelettes, omurice, and egg fritata.]

Thank you! [It's all she says before it's devoured in a single bite, and while she chews away she smiles and bobs her head from side to side in a pleased motion.]

[ Wow. As bad as Snorlax right there. He lightly scoffs. ]

I'll bring two next time. [ At least he knows for the future! ]

Is that right... [She tilted her head and held her chin in thought.] Well, good. Even if you end up never using it, it's better to be prepared!

[A short pause.] Oh, don't forget about the clinic either, alright? You're not going to be an expert at first aid right away, so make sure to go to them if you're in bad shape.

[Oops, she really just said all that. It was a force of habit.]

I know. [ It's very obvious advice, but it doesn't sound overly bossy at least. More like concern, so he can smile a little at that. ] I've been learning healing magic too - or, I'm going to, so - I'm fine.

[ Anyway. ] And I can't be stupid about my health. I've got more than myself to think about.

[Well, she won't get fat one one...

She finishes it off and beams at him.]

Oh that would be lovely! You know how much I like eggs, after all. And these are some of my favorites, all sweet and savory at the same time and it's just perfect.

I feed my pokémon before I come for lessons, so bringing some other's fine for me -- and eating's the best after training.

[ Actually, saying that... ] Are you sure you want to teach me right now? It looks like you've been really busy.

[She was quite adept at being bossy, so that was a small miracle, really.] That's right. [A nod.] You'll be just fine if you can keep thinking like that!

...Although knowing healing magic certainly helps. It's really useful!

Ah I see. I guess choosing to evolve is the pokemon's choice, yes? Or is it an automatic thing that occurs? [ Or perhaps it's determined on the trainer. ]

[ But Helios will nod on his end. ] That sounds good. You'll have to show me how other pokemon fight. Maybe if I see them in action I-I'll be able to determine which ones to battle.
