Venusaur / "Saur" (#003) Grass/Poison Overgrow Modest natured Lost in thought Height: 6'10 Weight: 225lbs
Venusaur, also known as "Saur", is the first of Red's pokémon and, as a result, the only one to never end up being sent to the PC box. She was gifted to Red from Professor Oak to begin his trainer journey with, being one of the only three pokémon still left in his possession. A young and modest pokémon without any experience in the wild, going out into the world after spending her life within Professor Oak's laboratory made her just as curious as the young boy who picked her, though her unfamiliarity with so much and not knowing either how to push boundaries meant that it was always Red who walked first or stuck his hand in places it didn't belong. Getting out and having to be a proper attacking pokémon too was a bumpy experience for the young bulbasaur, but Red was a trainer more than eager to help her, and they took every step as slow as necessary - and together. The two were near-instant best friends (but their friendship was never of question in Red's mind).
While she doesn't display the same amount of excitable energy as Red or some of his other pokémon, she is still a bright and happy individual. As her own confidence grew she became more vocal in subtle ways, being able to make Red pause and think instead of getting lost in the moment, and also talking with the wild pokémon that he captured. They weren't always positive conversations, but Venusaur learnt from them all, in the same way Red had to learn about the different attitudes of pokémon as he added them to his pokédex.
She doesn't easily hold grudges, and she rarely makes an argument out of anything unless pushed. It's only in the most desperate of times that she becomes angered and furious.
For Venusaur, she and Red are inseparable family.
NOTES
» When around Venusaur, she will give off a scent from her flower. When it's rained, this scent will be stronger - it give off a soothing/calming affect should your character be able to take it into their body. » Around the trunk of her flower, a necklace with a stone sits in the middle. This was a gift from Karis Renell (spellfeather) from when she evolved.
Battle Statistics
» Weakness to flying/air, fire, psychic, and ice based moves » Resistance to fighting/physical, water, grass, electric, and fairy
Venusaur, being a grass/poison-type pokémon, is strong in those particular area of attacks (though she only currently knows 1 or 2 poison attacks). She is a bulky/weighted pokémon with fairly decent manoeuvrability, and while she can land hard-hitting blows using her body, her strength in battle lies in special based attacks (mental/energy conjured), as well as using powders and seeds from her body to throw off the enemy.
Pikachu "Pika" (#025) Electric Static Jolly natured Alert to Sounds Height: 1'02 Weight: 11.5lbs
Pikachu, at times known as "Pika", is one of the first pokémon Red caught. They met in Viridian Forest, the place of Pikachu's birth and also where his community of pikachu lived. Before even meeting Red the pikachu was a competitive, fun-loving and cheeky soul, willing to get into scuffles and then rely on his fast feet to get him out of any trouble.
The two met when Pikachu decided to tease the trainer - and especially his mankey, Mandy. The still new team member was hardly going to let anyone tease her, definitely not a pikachu, and Red had no choice but to go chasing after the two through the forest. It took some bumbling around, and there was no chance of the mankey, rattata, nor Red's pidgey getting the pikachu.
What did get Pikachu, however, was Caterpie and Weedle's balls thrown out and string shots fired to trip over the pikachu. Aw yeah. A battle later, Pikachu was caught. The pidgey and caterpie were more than happy to have a good laugh at Pikachu, though the mankey had to be calmed down by Red so she didn't just beat up the guy the moment he came out of his ball.
Admittedly, the whole becoming a trainer's pokémon thing didn't sit well in Pikachu's stomach to begin with, especially when it meant leaving home (and when they left Viridian Forest, those butterflies were well in his stomach), but with Red's reassurances to the pokémon and some of his team mates teasing - and a few encouraging words from bulbasaur - the pikachu gave it a go. Why not! Maybe it'd be interesting.

Battle Statistics
» Weakness to ground based attacks » Resistant to flying/wind, steel, and electric based attacks
Pikachu is an electric-type pokémon, his electricity being stored inside his body and being released from the red pouches on his cheeks. As a fighter he is nimble in all meanings of the word; outspeeding, outwitting, and hitting as hard as possible is what this pokémon does well.
Snorlax "Snor" (#143) Normal Adamant natured Loves to eat
Snorlax, at times known as "Snor", was one of the last pokémon Red caught before arriving in Luceti. Their relationship was still in progress then, and with all the amounts of free food and the people willing to give it up to the gluttonous pokémon, it became obvious from day 1 that Snorlax was happier listening to his stomach than to Red in the face of food.
Unlike Venusaur who was born in a laboratory, and even unlike Pikachu - wild, but part of a safe community in Viridian Forest - Snorlax has the most feral personality out of all three pokémon. He travelled around Kanto (maybe even Johto; there's no difference to Snorlax) in the search of a constantly satisfied stomach, using his massive gut and hard head to support himself. Being stubborn and unyielding to any others did get him into scrapes, and a majority of pokémon couldn't put a dent in his impressively tough stomach. Of course, there were those who outsmarted Snorlax through strategy or through annoying him and tricking him, so it wasn't always a pleasant time out there.
But more often than not, being loud and unruly was the way to go. His journey for food took him to Celadon City; cities were always plenty with it. After eating as much as he could get his paws on - and troubling the citizens and visitors of Celadon after it - he plopped himself down and fell asleep for hours.
Until some punk human woke him up and battled him to complete exhaustion. At least he got to break plenty of those pesky pokéballs.
But still he found himself in one, and now that little punk human was calling him his trainer. Snorlax's pride was hurt from his loss and why should he listen to anyone but himself? It was a struggle for the two to get along (though he wasn't going to turn down food, and he wasn't going to let any dumb human on dumb human machines with wheels laugh at him either). It took time for the two to begin to understand each other (or for Snorlax to bother listening to Red), though Red took the time while they were hanging around Fuschia City.
And then came Luceti.
BATTLE STATISTICS
» Weak to fighting based attacks » Fully resistant to ghostly attacks
Snorlax's body isn't just for show, the pokémon having an incredible amount of endurance. He holds better against special/magic attacks than he does physical, though this isn't saying much - if you want to hit hard against Snorlax, be a capable fighter that can hit hard in the first place.
