[ When the video turns on in the very early morning, there's only half a face present before it comes up fully onto the screen. The boy is practically beaming at the journal, and there's only a second before-- ]

Ivysaur evolved!

[ Yes. He couldn't keep that excitement in. He's still got a really dumb smile on and he has to remember what he was going to say, a pause there before he continues. ]

If you don't know what an ivysaur is, they're a grass and poison type pokémon! Ivysaur's been with me since she was a bulbasaur and now she's huge! She's big! She's nearly as big as Snorlax is!

[ The camera faces down to a dusty ground, then comes back up. ] I'm going to show you her, okay? [ And then the book flips around, showing a large, blueish-greenish toad-skin looking monster with a flower protruding from her back from the front, standing at 6'10 (for those who can tell). She leans her head to the side, her mouth opening slightly and showing her fangs as she grunts a small sound. She's embarrassed by the fuss, but the yellow rodent at her feet displays her with his arms proudly out towards her. Pika! (Check her out!)

(Also from the background, some might be able to tell that they're at the farm. Why are they at the farm so early? Because.) ]

Isn't she cool? She is! --oh, hey, Snorlax! Stand next to her and show everyone how big she is next to you!

[ The recording swings over to show a very fat panda creature sitting down eating a pile of bread. He continues eating, and as Red begs again ("C'mon, Snooorlax!"), the creature proceeds to noisily shuffle his butt to face the opposite direction. Noopppee. ] Snor! You...!

[ Huff! He faces the screen back to himself finally, making a puffed face but not so seriously. ] Forget about him! Saur's amazing and that's all that matters!

[ And then one last smile! ]

[She just can't help but beam, both at Red and at Saur through the video.]

Well, if that's how she's ended up, she's a very handsome...Ivysaur? Or does her name change now?

Heheh, sorta. She's a venusaur now. I'll have to start calling her that now too, but swapping's a thing you do when a pokémon evolves and you don't give them a proper nickname.

But she'll know that you mean her if you say ivysaur! Right, Saur? [ With the pokémon there beside him, him leaning against her, the side of her head might just be visible as she turns her head, him patting her cheek as he beams at her. ]

So she'll just be Saur, now. Alright, that's easy enough to remember.

[She'll smile through the camera at the big critter.]

Does she still need extra rain?

Rain's still nice! Oh, but if you do it in summer, won't it be better? Summer's going to be a good time for Saur, too. Since she's part plant, all the sunlight will come and she'll feed on it.

[ He makes a motion with his hand as he speaks, going downward like the light towards Saur. ]

Do you feel better when it's summer too?

I just have stronger storms in summer, they aren't any better or worse, really.

[She laughs as he mimes it.]

And yes, I do. It's when I'm strongest, at my peak, as it were.

So you're like Saur too. [ He nods at that, of course not being literal. A thought then pops up. ]

Oh, I just remembered! You remember when we met, and you helped me with my wings?

I do. Why?

I read about the spirits, and I know it was Nala. I was thinking, maybe when you speak to her, I could speak to her with you...? I know you don't really meet her, but I thought she might like talking to someone new if someone she already knows is there?

Well...[Saori pauses, thoughtfully. Helios helped people contact the spirits sometimes, and she supposes that maybe she could too. Nala wasn't too hard to talk to, after all, and she didn't think Red would have any problems, so...]

I think that'd be fine. Nala's very friendly, so we can add that to your training if you want. It's not as fun or active as fighting, but it's definitely something useful.

Thanks. Maybe it won't be as fun, but if I knew how to heal, I could help my pokémon feel better after training.

We could do it a couple of times together though, then I could do it by myself. So you don't have to keep spending all your time teaching me things.

Oh that's no trouble. The best way to improve is by teaching others, after all. But contacting the spirits is definitely something you should practice on your own too. We can just work that into your regular training, a few minutes every session.

Does that sound alright?

Sure, that's great! [ It's making him feel all nice inside. ] People are really willing to help out here...do you think that? I wonder if there's stuff I can do to help out, but all I really know about are pokémon.

And there's people here who know more about them than me.

Well we're all in this place together, dear. There isn't any reason for us not to help one another. As for things you can do, I think maybe just being there for people is good. You said you and your pokemon were helping the farmers, right? That's a start. And learning to fight a bit means you can help in a crisis. The same for being brave and willing to defend others.

Mmm, you're right! Maybe I can try and listen out for more stuff people want help with too.

Well, exactly. That's what being helpful is about. Just...pay it forward.

Pay it forward?

[ He's not heard the expression, and he's not too sure he heard her right either. ]

Yes, it's an expression. When someone helps you, and doesn't need help in return, you pay it forward by doing something to help another person.

[It's one of those movies she actually enjoyed, too.]

Oh! I see... [ heeey, yeahh. actually-! ] I like it! I'll have to remember that.

It's a good philosophy to live by. That way you're always doing something helpful to someone, and pushing a cycle of goodwill along.

Yeah. It's too bad not everyone likes living positively like that. [ But understands that's just the way of life too. Some people are nice. Some people are jerks. ]

You can live by philosophies without really knowing it or thinking about it, can't you?

If you have to try and stay on the path and think about it constantly? Then you're probably breaking it without realizing it. So I certainly think you can live by one without knowing it. That's even more natural, really.

I don't really get philosophy, but I know it's a... thing, about the way you live. [ He guesses, from the amount he does know. ] But it sounded possible. That we're all living by some without realising it.

Well, there's not much to get. It doesn't really change anything, knowing what it's called. If you fit the philosophy, you fit it. No need to worry about labeling it, I think.

No. I know I'd just confuse myself if I tried labelling everything I think. It doesn't sound useful for a guy like me to do anyway.

No, it's not really something to worry about. I know I don't. I just do what I must, and what feels right. The same as anyone.
